Happy Mid-Autumn!!
I love Mid-Autumn, but it is boring here in the States. Sure there are the celebration at BGSU, but they just don't feel like home.
What I mean by home? Well, Hong Kong style celebration. Paper candle lanterns and plastic electric lanterns hanging every where. Kids playing with candles. Everyone is playing outside in parks and public area.
Moon Cake. It wouldn't be Mid-Autumn without Moon Cakes. Made with lotus seed past and with one or two egg yolks on the inside. The real/good/properly/made in Hong Kong moon cakes are really good. Unlike what ever they give out at the BGSU Mid-Autumn celebration.
Every quarter of an average sized moon cake has 196 Calories. That mean 784 Calories in each moon cake, and 3136 Calories per box.
I have always wanted to try the Snow-Skin Moon Cakes, or ice cream moon cakes. The snow-skin is special, they are made with modern flavors. The ice cream moon cakes sound interesting, but I doubt they are very special.
I miss holidays in Hong Kong.

Shopping!
I went shopping on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, it was more like window shopping since I didn't buy any thing.
I went to Mong Kok with family. I actually didn't mind looking at cloths with them. I guess I missed the fashion of Hong Kong. Then I went to a shopping center that is almost filled with toys and collectible shops.
I wanted to buy so much stuff there. But every thing is a bit expensive. I want to buy a figure of Yuki Nagato from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. But it cost $180 HKD. I guess after converting the currency to USD, it is not as expensive, but I doubt I can get the funding.
The next day I did buy something I like and still cheep. The only reason why it is cheep, it is because I seen it in the States. I saw a Union Flag from Gundam 00 at the Animerathon this year. It cost $30 USD. I bought the Flag for $148 HKD which is about $18 USD.
I love Hong Kong!!!!!

New Year Blues
Ok, it isn't exactly the new year. But a few days after it.
New Year was actually great. Well not really great, I'll talk about why on my next post.
The New Year celebration at BGSU hosted by the CSSA gets worst by the year.
There used to be crappy Chinese-ish food cooked by the BGSU food services. Now they just have crappy sorry excuse for pizza. What the hell is that!! It is a Chinese celebration and all they are giving us are shitty pizza?!
The performance is also a bit disappointing. They are all good, but only a few are actually related to the new year. Other are just Chinese pop song, and western classical music. I want to listen to some old fashion Erhu or Liuqin. I can listen to violin and piano any time I want.
I want the good old fashion celebration that I grew up with. Candies, Red Pocket, the new year markets, the decorations.
